is the difference between model 0700 and model
01500N1?
Model 0700 just has one button “on”
”, that is used to take both the body temperature
on the forehead (directly), and the objects' temperature
(subtracting a certain value).
In model 01500N1, instead, the presence of two
buttons allows you to measure directly both the
body temperature on the forehead (button “face”
) both the one of the objects or of other body
parts (button “home”
). Moreover, while model 0700 after around twenty
seconds of non-use automatically turns off, model
01500N1 goes stand-by, visualizing the room temperature
and it does never turn off. |

Is
Thermofocus accurate?
Yes, Thermofocus is accurate
within a margin for error of +/-0,2°C (for
body temperatures between 36 and 39°C) and
of +/-0,3°C (for body temperatures under 36
and above 39°C) fixed by the standard ASTM
E1956-98. To have always the greatest precision,
it is important to read the instructions carefully
and to respect the conditions of use |

What
are Thermofocus' advantages if compared to other
thermometers?
Thermofocus is a real vanguard
thermometer because it is easy to be used, it
is not invasive, it is reliable, safe, very fast
and absolutely hygienic. There are no breaking
risks as it is with a mercury thermometer during
rectal measurements. Moreover, unlike other thermometers,
Thermofocus does never get in contact with the
patient, so there is no need of disinfecting it
and it does not need any hygienic protection.

How
does Thermofocus work?
Thermofocus collects the infrared
emissions coming from any body and, specifically,
from the human beings' forehead. When the button
is released, Thermofocus does, in a few hundredth
of a second, a series of more than a 100 records
that are amplified and elaborated by its sophisticated
microprocessor, together with the room temperature's
value coming from a thermocouple probe incorporated
inside the sensor.
The data are compared to the parameters in the
memory and the results of these processings is
the temperature visualized on the display.

Is
the temperature visualized with Thermofocus the
same as the one taken with other thermometers
and in other parts of the body?
The temperature taken with
Thermofocus is normally very similar, but not
necessarily equal, to the temperature taken with
other thermometers in other parts of the body.
Following the dissipation of heat that the non-protected
parts of the body undergo, the normal temperature
that can be taken on a person's forehead is usually
lower than the one of other covered parts. For
this reason, Thermofocus' internal software automatically
applies a correction to give a value that is approximately
comparable to the oral temperature.
This correction is statistically calculated on
a series of around ten thousand measurements.
But, as the differences between the temperatures
in the different areas of the body (axillary,
oral, rectal, auricolar) are not stable, but vary
from person to person, so do the differences between
the temperatures on the forehead and the one in
other areas of the body, which are peculiar of
every person. It is thus normal that the two temperatures
can differ of 5 or 6 tenth or sometimes even more
than this.
In any case, to better
assess possible feverish states, it is convenient
to know the temperature of every single family
member, when in ideal health conditions and
in the various moments of the day, to take it
as a reference in case of fever. For example,
a subject with a particularly low temperature
in good health conditions will have a lower
fever's threshold if compared to a subject who
normally has a high temperature.

Sometimes
the temperature that I read on my Thermofocus'
display is too low, if compared to the one normally
taken. Why?
- The lens could be dirty:
the presence of dust or little hair, filters the
passage of infrared emissions coming from the
human body and so Thermofocus can take a temperature
which is lower than the real one. It is necessary
to clean it gently with a cotton applicator dampened
with alcohol.
- The forehead could be sweaty, or the measurement
is being taken on areas covered by hair (the navel
in adult men or the armpit). In these cases Thermofocus
is not able to take reliable measurements. In
case of children with a sweaty forehead, with
the model 01500N1, through the home button, it
is possible to take the temperature also on the
navel or on the armpit. Make sure of not undressing
the child in advance, but to move the clothes
for the strictly necessary time and immediately
before the measurement, to avoid the belly's (or
the armpit's) heat dispersion.

What
happens if the red lights are unintentionally
directed to the eyes?
Nothing happens, the tracking
lights are totally harmless. THEY ARE NOT LASER
BEAMS! |

the first measurement, how long do I have to wait
to take another one, if necessary?
With Thermofocus it is possible
to take another measurement immediately |

Can
Thermofocus be used to take the body temperature
in people of any age?
For the comfort of its use, its non-invasive methods
and its quick measurements, Thermofocus has been
designed for children, but adults can also use
it. However, it is important to bear in mind that
sometimes in elderly people, the temperature taken
with Thermofocus could be lower than the real
one, above all in elderly people and with a high
rugosity of the forehead

Are
there situations when Thermofocus must not be
used? (for instance on a sweaty forehead?)
Thermofocus is not able to
take reliable measurements if the forehead is
sweaty or if the area where the measurement is
taken, for example the navel in adult men or the
armpit (with model 01500N1), is covered with hair. |

Why
does model 01500N1 never turn off?
Model 01500N1 goes stand-by
after 30 seconds of non-use, always visualizing
the room temperature. Besides the comfort of having
a clinical thermometer that also is a room thermometer,
its main purpose is to check that the thermometer's
temperature constantly corresponds to the real
room temperature, to take measurements in conditions
of complete adaptation of the same thermometer.
It is a very useful function, for example, for
the doctors who visit their patients: as a matter
of fact, coming from outside the thermometer is
at a temperature normally different from the internal
one of the house; in this way, it is possible
to check when the thermometer has adapted that
is, when it is possible to take another valid
measurement. |

Being
always on, does model 01500N1 consume a lot?
When model 01500N1 goes stand-by,
it is not completely active, but it goes in the
same pause position, with very low consumptions,
as the ones of a cell phone when there are no
conversations in process or of a non working TV,
but ready to be turned on through the remote control.
Its autonomy with new batteries is around 3 years
of 10 thousands measurements. |

Can
I change the setting from oral to rectal?
Your thermometer has come
out of the manufactory with the ORAL setting,
but if you like you can change the setting to
RECTAL (this operation is not possible with model
0700).
With the stand-by thermometer, press the “face”
button for around 8 seconds, until RECTAL appears
(or ORAL in case RECTAL has already been set).
Release the button. After a few seconds, the thermometer
will be ready to take a measurement with the new
setting. When the thermometer is set on RECTAL,
the visualized temperature is 0,6°C more than
the one visualized with the ORAL setting.

Can
I change the setting from centigrade to Fahrenheit?
Your thermometer has come
out of the manufactory with a °C or a °F
setting according to the destination country,
but, if necessary, you can change the reference.
When the thermometers is off (mod. 0700) or stand-by
(mod. 01500N1), press the button
“on” or “home” for about
8 seconds, until the symbol °F appears (or
°C if the thermometer was set on °F).
Release the button. After a few seconds, the thermometer
will be ready to take a measurement with the new
setting.

Can
I check if the thermometer is correctly calibrated?
It is possible to check the
correct room reference doing a calibration check
as indicated on the directions manual. This operation
is not possible with model 0700.
To do this check it is very important that the
thermometer is very well adapted. It is essential
to keep it in an environment with stable and constant
temperature, between 20 and 40°C, far from
blasts of air or sources of heat and do the operation
without taking the thermometer in your hand, but
leaving it on a shelf.
Without leaving the cap, when the thermometer
is in a pause position, press the two buttons
“face” and “home” simultaneously:
CAL will appear and after a few seconds the led
will flash, finalizing the check. If just after
YES and READY will appear, in case with a figure,
it means that the thermometer is correctly calibrated.
If E7 appears, make sure to have strictly respected
the procedure, and if necessary do a second test.

Do
I have to do the calibration check every time
that I take a measurement?
Absolutely not. The calibration
test has to be done only when you have doubts
on the measurements' reliability, (after making
sure of strictly respecting Thermofocus' use conditions),
or if the instrument has been bumped. |

Taking
furthest measurements, my Thermofocus visualizes
different temperatures (more than 0,2°C difference).
How is it possible?
- May be the thermometer is not always directed
on the same point in the center of the forehead
or it has been moved before the lights end to
flash: make sure of keeping the thermometer perpendicular
to the center of the forehead and, after having
released the button, keep it still until the lights
flash. If you position the thermometer in different
points of the forehead, you will surely get variable
measurements.
- The thermometer was in a room with a temperature
that was different from the one where the measurement
is taken. Wait fifteen-twenty minutes before taking
any other measurement so that the can get adapted.
